The season’s accessories are all about standing out, and isn’t it what accessories are supposed to do? Perhaps, the pastels and sleek pencil skirts of the Spring fashion encourage you to be that much bolder in your choice of jewelry, shoes and bags. Below are my stand-out trends for Spring 2014 Accessories.
Colored Stones
Colored gemstones will be seen all over the red-carpet and Spring runways this spring. One great example is the Open Hearts Waves by Jane Seymour Collection. The beautiful blue and white stones, designed to represent a wave, are sure to add class and color to any ensemble whether it be jeans and a t-shirt or a Spring cocktail dress.
Fifty Shades of Gray (Gray and Silver Accessories)
“This trend is definitely not going away anytime soon”, says Jamie Glushon for Neil Lane, “Gear up for Spring with gray and sterling silver accessories”.
Pendant Necklaces
“Whether you’re going for a classic, delicate look or effortless and chic, pendants are always in, says Jamie Glushon for Neil Lane.
Scarves
Another feminine look, the scarf adds old-school class and glamour.
Color-Blocking
This adds a new dimension to otherwise plain shoes. Seen on platforms and pumps, ballet flats and kitten heels everywhere.
Ankle Straps
I think this trend may be coming all the way from the dance craze. What’s unique about ankle straps is that they are universally flattering – whether with jeans or an elegant dress – and instantly glamorize your look.
Bootie
I have a hard time calling it a trend, since this boot stays popular almost year round. Often spotted on celebrities, it adds a nice country vibe to your look – it’s comfortable for every day. Peep toe heels are still a big hit.
Wedge
This platform is popular season after season, perhaps because it gives you extra height and still offers comfort. Look for Spring-influenced colors (pastels, ocean tones and prints) on top and the popular cork on the bottom.
Snakeskin Print
Each season tends to favor a print. Though tribal motives are big for Spring 2014 fashion and animal prints are a recurring motive ear-long, one print stands out for Spring 2014 Accessories and that is snakeskin. Especially popular on the “it” bag of the season – a satchel.
Fringe Bags
Fringe is actually a popular trend this Spring not just for bags but also seen on tops, jewelry and shoes. It’s a little bit of the 70s boho vibe but upgraded to the modern times.
