Salmon is one of the healthiest types of fish you can find. It has no carbs and has plenty of Omega 3 and good fats. This recipe is savory – you mix sweet and salty flavors with some herbs. The combination of a few simple ingredients makes this savory salmon a dinner standout.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon steaks (4-6 oz)
- 4 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil
- 5 tbsp honey
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 cup chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Prepare the marinade – mix the mustard, olive oil, honey, lemon and fresh dill. Leave a little fresh dill for garnish.
2. Rinse the salmon and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. Marinade the salmon in the honey-mustard-dill mixture for 15 minutes.
4. Heat the pan to medium low, place salmon on the pan and cook on each side for about 5 minutes or until each side is cooked (salmon will turn a pale pink color inside)
5. Garnish with remaining fresh dill. Squeeze a little more lemon for extra freshness. Serve with young potatoes or rice. If preparing as described, each steak will yield approximately 400 calories.
You can also make this in the oven, which is what I do more often for this savory salmon dish. Instead of cooking in the pan, simply bake at 375F for 20 minutes.
