These chocolate chip brownies are completely decadent thanks to the scrumptuous chocolate chips and cocoa. However, they are almost guilt free, since there is very little fat – we are using egg whites, apple sauce instead of butter or oil and skim milk. If you select darker chocolate chips and unsweetened cocoa, it’s even more guilt free. Sweet, chocolatey and easy on the calories – what could be better than these chocolate brownies?
Makes 8 large brownies.
Ingredients:
- 3 egg whites
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup apple sauce
- 1/2 cup baking cocoa
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions:
1. Whisk 3 egg whites.
2. Add apple sauce and vanilla. Stir well.
3. Combine dry ingredients – flour, cocoa, chocolate chips, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
4. Slowly stir dry ingredients into the chocolate batter and mix well.
5. Heat the oven to 350F. Lightly grease a small cake pan (8×11). Pour the batter into the pan
6. Bake for 30 minutes at 350F. Cool for 10-15 minutes.
7. Cut into squares or any other original shapes and enjoy!
