Fall 2013 Makeup Trends

I think my obsession with make-up goes back to the childhood dance days, when beautiful sparkly costumes and make-up were a major part of being in a dance class to begin with. There is a reason why Sephora, Ulta and the like have high frequency shoppers – we just can’t live without makeup! While, as a mom, you may not have much more time than a quick coat of mascara, it’s fun to try more on a night out or a brunch with friends. Here are my Fall 2013 makeup favorites.

Intense Smoky Eye

This sultry, intense, magnetic eye will surely get noticed. Sweep a coat of grey or metallic blue on the upper and lower lid and a light line of the same shadow right under your lower lashes, smudge lightly. This is definitely a smoldering look in grey, black or brown, or even in navy.

Cobalt Cat

Nude Lip

beige/nude lipstick

While there was a lot of red on the fall runways, nude lip seemed to go with everything in the fashion ads. I love it for its natural look and ability to transfer from day to night. The main point this season, I think, is all the attention is on the eyes, and the neutral lip helps not to detract from it.

Metallic Nails

It seems nails are getting a major makeover – no longer just a certain shade, it’s a whole movement with patterns and styles. This fall, look for metallics (silver, gold, diamond, chrome, bronze), metallic effects (sparkle, glitter or rock specks), and 3D effects.
